3 Things To Be Grateful For During Lockdown

There's no doubt about it, the coronavirus has hit us hard. Many of us have suffered a loss of income. Some of us have experienced the virus first hand. And the majority of us have had to spend time away from extended family members and friends.

The world is in turmoil right now, and we have all been thrown into a time of uncertainty.

But let's take a step back from the negative side of the last few months. In a bid to overcome coronavirus panic and anxiety, let us try to find things to be grateful for during this time. Yes, life is hard, but (as strange as it might seem to suggest), there are positives.

Here are just a few of the things you might want to be grateful for during this period of lockdown.

Be grateful for extended family time

Yes, we know that being under the same roof for much of the day can cause tension, but if you're fortunate enough to have a family to live with, be grateful for the time you are having with them. Especially if you're often missing out on family time because of work and other life commitments, you now have the opportunity to enjoy their company. So, if you haven't already, cherish this time. Play games together. Talk to one another. Bond as you exercise. And be thankful that, despite the occasional argument, you do have one another to rely on during this difficult time.

Be grateful for your increased survival skills

We can all become complacent sometimes, especially when life is easy and we have little to worry about. But if this crisis has taught us anything, it's that we do have those inner survival skills to rely on when times are hard. Suddenly, we are in a position where we are learning how to look after ourselves and the people around us, and we might be doing things we have never done before. From learning how to make our groceries last to finding ways to stay fit at home, we are drawing on skills that may have been untapped before. Our complacency has been kicked into touch and we are becoming stronger! Check out Prepared Bee for other survival examples, and use their advice if needed.

Be grateful for the people on the frontline

We are not only talking about our nurses, doctors, and police forces, but our shop workers, garbage men, and all of those other people who are still going to work each day to serve us. We don't give these people credit very often, but right now, they are risking their lives on our behalf. That's quite something! So, be thankful for them, and in your role as a parent, remind your kids of this point too, as they will learn how to respect the value of everybody on our planet.

And so…

Throw off the negativity you might be feeling, as there is much to be grateful for. Sit down with your family and talk through these things, and together, list other positives that have stemmed from this period. You might all feel a little better if you do, as especially in the three points we listed, there will be more incentive to be grateful for such things after lockdown has been lifted.

Take care, and thanks for reading!
