4 Beard Styles And Grooming Tips For Dads

Hey dads, have you noticed other men with beards that would put lumberjacks to shame? Beard styles for dads are "all the rage" right now, so if you're looking to grow glorious chin hair, you should!

Young or old, beards are for any man who can grow a fine amount of facial hair. I’m here to tell you that dads can have beards too. As a man who grew the hair but didn't know how to care for it, I have some tips for you.

Who Can Pull Off A Beard?

The answer to this is anyone.. "But," you exclaim, "I'm a dad. Isn't a beard a look that is reserved for young hipsters sipping on coffee as they work remotely at a local café?" The truth is that there is no limit to who can sport a stylish beard, whether you're a stay-at-home dad or a businessman traveling the world.

The whole idea of dad bods and wearing outdated clothing just because you're a dad is a thing of the past. Whether you work a busy career to provide for your family or you stay at home with the kids for your partner to be able to "bring in the bread," dressing and grooming as you want to is a great way to feel good and look good, no matter what. A beard can add that extra "je no se quoi" to your look and make you stand out.

Top Four Styles For Professionals

I get it. If you have a job that requires you to look trim or you want to look your part, beards can still look professional, no matter their length. To help you choose the one that is best for you from beard styles for dads and any man really, here are four beards that can look as professional as needed.

1. Tweard: Often seen on lumberjacks or outdoors woodsman, it's a daring option to bring to the professional world, but definitely one that can be done. It takes a couple of years to get your "tweard" to where you want it but once it's grown, it's an impressive sight to see. To keep it professional, simply groom and trim as needed to avoid crazy fly-away hair.

 2. Corporate Beard: Basic and corporate yet appealing and still stylish, this may be the best beard for the corporate climber. It's easy to maintain, although it does require regular grooming and is a no-drama look that is easy for any dad to pull off while looking the part in a corporate environment. Full yet trimmed, it's for the man who can grow a full beard and has the time for grooming.

3. Verdi: If you want to look as dashing as Giuseppe Verdi for whom this beard was named after, the Verdi is a look that is clean yet charming, making it the perfect fit for the fast-paced professional. Other than keeping that beard tamed with the finest beard products and not letting your mustache run wild, it's minimum upkeep for the busy businessman.

 4. Hollywoodian: The Hollywoodian is a mix of wild yet tamed, with a full-enough beard that you look tough but a trim mustache that is reminiscent of Hollywood. What cleans this look up entirely is the lack of furry sideburns, making it a dashing look that any dad can pull off. It's perfect for those who want to emphasize their jaw-line and minimize cheeks—ideal for post-winter styling.

How To Keep It Cool

So, now that you know different ways that you can wear a beard in a stylish way that suits your career or lifestyle, there are some things to keep in mind. Beards require care—unless you live out in the woods with no care in the world—so to help you keep your beard looking sharp and appealing, here are my top tips for beard care:

●      Wash your beard: Just like you wash your hair on a regular basis, it goes without saying that you should wash your beard. Keep in mind that much like there are various options for the shampoo you should be using for the texture of the hair on your head, you should shop for the kind of shampoo that is designed for your beard's hair too. For example, is it oily or dry?

●      Maybe you condition your head hair or maybe you don't but if you want to be sure that your beard looks smooth and kempt, it's important to condition it in some type of way. But instead of buying normal conditioner, beard oil is the way to go with your stylish beard.

●      If you've ever seen a beard with fly-away hair and wiry hairs sticking out all over, this beard needs a trim. While it may have its place in the wild, your dad beard could look a lot better (not to mention, more professional) when it's trimmed. Trimming your beard in a round shape allows for a uniform beard that looks as sharp as can be.

●      Don't forget to trim your neckline. It can be easy to let your hair run wild EVERYWHERE but that's not how a good-looking beard should look like. Trimming around your beard neckline every couple of weeks is a good idea so that you have the strong-look beard you've been hoping for.

●      Last but not least, stay healthy. Healthy hair is a sign of a healthy person, so eat right and you'll find that your beard will love you. Don't forget that exercise and sleeping well are also a part of ensuring that your beard is as healthy as it should be.

Stay Stylish With Your Dad Beard

Jump on the dad beard bandwagon and trust me, with these beard styles for dads, you'll feel a whole new level of confidence that you didn't even know you had. With the right care and the best look for your lifestyle and features, a beard could be the style you never knew you needed.
