5 Tips For Decorating Your Kids Room
Decorating your child’s room can be a fun experience. As excited as they are to redecorate their room, chances are you're just as excited, if not even more than they are. From choosing the theme to going with what kind of color scheme you want, it's an opportunity to get creative and brainstorm with your child.
There are no rules when it comes to choosing the best way to design your child's bedroom. Except that it should be something that they agree with. Choosing a design that they hate won't do anyone any favors. So once you've decided on a theme with your child that you both agree on, here are some of the best tips to keep in mind.
Make Sure That It Ages Well
Remember, just because your child loves a certain cartoon character right now doesn't mean that it will still be their favorite thing in ten years. Make sure that you choose a design that will age well with time. Not everyone has the budget to be able to completely redecorate their room every two years, so as you design their room, always keep in mind how it will age as time goes on.
Go With Bright Colors
Even though your child may have a great idea like red or forest green, it's best to stray away from dark colors. They absorb light, and they can be quite depressing. Try to guide your child towards choosing bright colors. Colors and brightness are the way to go when you're in a child's room.
Don’t Shy Away From Prints
If there's one place in the house that you're allowed to use prints and patterns in, it's a child's room. Choose all sorts of different combinations and for them together. The more fun you can have with it, the better.
Incorporate the Ceiling
Don't forget to include the ceiling when decorating your child’s room. Since your child spends so much time lying down looking at the ceiling, it would be a shame to waste all that space. Have fun hanging things that dangle or glow. The idea is to make it fun to go to sleep when they lay down in their beds.
Fill Up The Walls
Make use of your child's walls by filling them with tender family moments. You can put family photos or pictures of your child as they grow older. It can be comforting for young children just learning to sleep in their own room to have photos of their family to keep them company. In addition to family photos, you might want to consider their own original artwork. They'll have a sense of pride seeing it displayed on the walls
