Creative Halloween Treat Ideas

Halloween is a perfect time to get creative whether it be costumes, decorations, or something to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you have a Halloween party to attend or are looking for a fun activity with friends or family a Halloween treat may be exactly what you’re looking for. Baking can be a great way to get creative, especially during the Halloween season, and it is the perfect thing to share with others.

Here are some creative Halloween treats that are sure to please any crowd, young and old.

Dark Chocolate Cake

Dark chocolate cake is the perfect spooky canvas for any Halloween design. You can keep it simple with some white chocolate spider webs or bones, or a more complex scene if you’re feeling creative. You can also make the whole cake into a mummy, by spreading white icing across the whole cake in streaks, then add some marshmallows for the eyes.

Caramel Apples

Although it is a classic, there are so many ways to make your caramel apples unique. Once you dip them in the caramel, the decorations are endless. Try rolling your apples in crushed cookies, sprinkles, chopped nuts, mini candies, and whatever else your heart desires. This is a great recipe to also use as an activity with children or friends.

If you are looking for a more shareable, finger-food version of this recipe, try slicing your apples and laying them all down in the same direction on a sheet pan. Then cover the slices in a delicious caramel sauce and top with whatever you like. You can add different toppings to different sections to offer more variety for whoever you’re sharing with.

Halloween Jell-O Shots

Halloween is not just a holiday for the children, enjoying a spooky treat is for all ages. Jell-O shots are a great way to have something for the adults and still make something creative and fun. You can layer different colored Jell-O in a baking dish to create a layered looking when you cut them into squares. Top with a little whipped cream and some sprinkles and you have an easy, fun, grown-up treat.

Halloween Candy

Candy is one of the biggest parts of Halloween, but have you ever considered making your own? Halloween candy gifts are one of the easiest ways to get into the spirit, and homemade candy makes a great gift. To imitate candy corn, you can make fudge and dye it the iconic colors, then cut it into cute little triangles.

A homemade Reese’s cup is also a delicious option. Top it with some orange sprinkles and you have yourself a chocolate peanut butter cup that may rival the real deal.

Strawberry Cheesecake “Brain”

Cheesecake is a classic dessert, but by changing the shape and adding a few extra touches you can make your cheesecake look like a brain. Mold the crust around an oval-shaped dish, then fill it with the light pink strawberry cheesecake mixture and shape it into a mound. Let the cheesecake sit in the fridge, then you can take a knife and carve out all of the squiggles and lines. Top with a darker red berry syrup to give a “bloody” illusion.

If you’re looking for an easy way to complete this recipe, search for a brain-shaped cake mold to use.
