Materials for Cleaning Your Baby's Face

Cleaning your baby's face is something that you're better off not making more complicated than it is. Yes, a baby's skin is much more delicate and sensitive than the skin of an adult. The first thing that you'll need to do is make sure that you have all of the right newborn bathing materials for the job.

Make sure that you have a soft and clean cloth for washing your baby's skin ready to go. You'll also need warm water, cotton balls, and a soft baby towel if you're ready to clean your baby's face.

Steps to Wash a Baby's Face

The first step you'll want to take is soaking a cotton ball in the warm water and then squeezing the cotton ball to get rid of the excess liquid. Once the cotton ball is drained, take it and wipe your baby's eye from the corner near the nose and move outwards. You'll want to take that step with each eye before moving on.

Next, dip your soft white baby washcloths in the warm water and then wring them out so that the excess water is gone. Use this soft washcloth to wipe your baby's face in a gentle manner. If your baby has acne then consult with your baby's doctor about getting medication to help.

Avoid scrubbing your baby's skin as it is quite sensitive and will cause your baby harm. If you find any dry substances around your baby's mouth or nose then you should apply a dabbing technique to remove them rather than scrubbing. Make sure that you don't forget to use the washcloth behind the baby's ears as well.

Do your best to keep the washcloth out of your baby's ears as this is a sure way to cause an ear infection. You should apply these same techniques to clean your baby's neck before drying your baby with a soft baby towel.

Now You're Ready to Clean Your Baby's Face

Your baby's face is delicate and using the wrong techniques for bathing newborns will cause your baby harm. Make sure that you have the right newborn bathing materials and that you're not scrubbing your baby's skin. You should also take great care to remove any dry material around your baby's mouth or nose.
