How to Make A Few Extra Bucks From Your Talents/Skills

Being a parent can be tough, and children certainly aren’t cheap. Although the US unemployment rate is at an 18-year low of 3.8%, there are still fathers across the country who are struggling to put food on the table. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, being a parent is incredibly challenging. However, you don’t necessarily need to take on a second job to increase your income.

As a man, you have a variety of skills and talents which you might be able to turn into extra income on the weekends and even in the evenings. While you might not think of these as skills, there are people out there who struggle with these tasks and who would be willing to pay you generously for your efforts.

Freelance Writing

The first is freelance writing, and while you may never have thought of yourself as a writer, if you did reasonably well in school, the chances are good that you’re a fairly talented writer. Freelance writing is probably very different from what you’re imaging. It’s less journalism and magazines, and more writing for small businesses about their subject matter.

Freelance writers can make money through freelancing websites such as Upwork where you can bid for jobs and work. Another common path is to work for a writing agency such as WordAgents which will handle the sales and marketing for you so that all you need to do is write and submit your work.

Working for an agency is the best choice for most fathers because it requires the least amount of time and is a more secure form of work. The CEO of Word Agents, Vincent D’Eletto, says that his writers “often earn more than a thousand dollars each month” which would be a huge boost to the average father.

Help People Move and Pickup

If you own a car or a truck, you’re in luck. There are thousands of people in your local area who are looking for somebody to help them to move houses or to pick up an item from one home and deliver it to theirs. While there are a bunch of moving and pickup services, most of them are incredibly expensive, charging over $100 per hour.

This leaves a huge gap in the market for somebody like yourself who has a car and is plenty strong enough to pick up a mattress or a cabinet from Craigslist for a buyer. Not only is this a great way to make money in your spare time, but it’s also a decent workout and can be a fun way to meet new people.
