How To Start Yoga As A Man (And Why You Should!)

Do you know the fact that for hundreds and thousands of years, there was no specific equipment for Yoga? Yes! You read it right, that time for Yoga, all you needed was mind, body, and spirit that were the basic requirements. But these days, modern professional yoga practitioners feel comfortable with a few items that make Yoga more exciting and easy.

Some yoga studios and gyms offer straps, blocks, and other related props to use, and once you have received the basics of yoga stretches and postures, you also need these items at your home so that it becomes easy for you to practice Yoga at home too. In case you are not heading to some yoga studio or gym but trying to practice Yoga at home by watching YouTube or online Yoga classes, then you may need the below-mentioned yoga gear. Check them out:

A Mat Towel

How much sweating you will have during your practice depends on the yoga style you choose. The sweat can make your mat slippery and can be very dangerous; also, you won't even bother about your sweat when you focus entirely on Yoga and balance. This is the time when you need a good mat towel.

Usually, a regular hand towel works okay, but when you are doing Power yoga, Bikram, and Ashtanga, then you may need a specific towel that will cover the mat. Now, this process will make your mat fully absorbent that will dry quickly. Therefore, make sure you get the one that will fit the size of your mat.

Comfortable and Breathable Clothing

Maybe your current favorite outfit is skinny jeans, but that may cause problems in Yoga. As too much stretching and different types of postures is what you have to work on and jeans may cause discomfort, and that's the reason why you need specific clothing for Yoga. There are a few instructors that will ask you to wear clothes that don't hide your posture so that they can easily understand your alignment. Thus keeping this in mind, we have a tip for you.

Get the Right Fit

Ladies, this one is for you - avoid wearing women’s gym clothes that are too revealing or big; check out the tops that are extra wide at the armpits. And gents - you can go for mens yoga pants that are comfortable and will help in getting the proper yoga posture.

When it comes to Yoga, restricted and too tight clothes can cause discomfort and won't let you practice it freely.

Yoga Blocks

A yoga block is a very useful prop that makes you feel comfortable and enhances alignment. Basically, for standing postures in which hands are needed to be on the floor, the blocks are used.

For people who don't have hamstring flexibility and don't have the strength to hold the position for them, this prop is very useful.

Final Words

Doing Yoga can change your life completely; it not only helps you to stay fit but even helps in improving your lungs as well as mental growth. So, make sure you add Yoga to your daily routine but do have the right gear and correct clothing for it.
