Low-Effort Things To Add To Your Bedtime Routine

So we all know that a bedtime routine can be a good way to help you sleep soundly and wake up feeling more refreshed. If you haven’t tried it already, then we can highly recommend it! Although it sounds like effort, a bedtime routine can really consist of anything. Even something simple like brushing your teeth and sipping on a warm drink can be a good way to calm your senses and prepare yourself for bed.

But to make things even easier for you, we’ve got a couple of low-effort things that you can add to your bedtime routine. We’ve picked these specifically so that anyone can add them to their routine without changing things too much!

Play some music before bed

A bit of music can sometimes trigger us to feel sleepy, comfortable, and just more relaxed. You can find relaxing playlists for sleep on YouTube or even Spotify. Simply play a bit of music as it’s time for bed, and let it become the background music for your bedtime routine. Eventually, your body will get familiar with the music and it’ll almost feel like a subconscious signal for your body to get ready for bed.

Do something soothing that doesn’t require a lot of brain power

Something repeatable that you can do without much brain power is usually good for your bedtime routine. It can be saying your nightly prayers if you’re religious, picking an outfit for tomorrow, or even doing a bit of gentle stretching. Anything that you can repeat every night without thinking too much will help your brain settle down and get your body into sleep mode.

Put down your phone

Ever stayed up in bed looking at social media? If so, then you probably know just how awful it can be at times! We might end up spending several hours rolling around in bed staring at our screens before we even shut our eyes. Social media can be really addictive and YouTube videos can be a lot of fun to enjoy late at night. But it’s all going to cause problems for you when you finally get to bed and realize that you’ve only slept a few hours. Try to put down your phone, preferably somewhere far away from your bed, so that you’re not tempted to browse all night.

Keep the temperature nice and cool

If your bedroom is too hot to sleep in, then it’s going to make it harder to sleep. It’s hard to fall asleep when it’s so hot that you’re sweating under the sheets, but if you sleep without the sheets on, then the temperature can drop really quickly and make it uncomfortable. Try different things each night to see what works best for you. Some people like to use their thermostat to adjust the heating and cooling in their bedrooms, while others just like to leave the window open a tiny bit so that there’s a bit of a breeze to cool you down. Aside from adjusting the temperature, Dr. Marie Simon, a top dentist in avon lake oh also recommends brushing and flossing your teeth, and even taking a quick shower. It's easier to fall asleep when you're feeling refreshed.
