Stay Fresh Kings - 5 Tips For Men's Grooming

Grooming for a man can be a tricky endeavor. Most of us believe our hairy armpits, chest, and balls are the signature sign of our manhood. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t look good in the process. Well-groomed men are in demand these days. And it certainly comes with benefits.

If you’re new to grooming, or just looking to step up your game, here’s a list of tips for you.

Why Grooming is Important

Believe it or not, hairy and smelly unkempt men were once in style... In the caveman era! Seriously, the days of wild body hair, smelly breath, and rough skin are in the past. No one wants a man that looks like a neanderthal from the Paleolithic era. Being well kempt is also a very good first impression. So, if you’re going for a job interview soon, be sure to follow the list below.

1: Brush the Pearly Yellows

Being part of our daily routine since we could hold a toothbrush, there’s no wonder it made it on the list. Keeping up with brushing is vitally important as you only have two sets! And if you’re reading this, you’re most likely on your second set. Nasty teeth are also the source of bad breath. And beware, just because you can’t smell it, doesn’t mean I can’t. A good way to test for bad breath is to lick your wrist, let it dry, and then smell. If it’s unpleasant, be sure to book an appointment with your toothbrush. And, of course, don't forget to book an appointment with your dentist too. If you don't have one yet, search for a phrase like "dentist near me Los Angeles" and it will provide a list of dental experts that you can check out.

#2: Moisturize

If you’ve ever been uncontrollably itchy, especially during the winter, you may want to buy a bottle of moisturizer. First, determine your level of dryness, then coordinate it with the type of moisturizer you buy. For most typical uses, it’s recommended that you apply it twice a day. However, it’s important to not go overboard. Too much can easily cause oily skin.

Furthermore, be sure to use SPF in the summer. Too much exposure to the sun can have adverse effects on the health of your skin.

#3: Beard Management

Growing a beard can be a huge achievement in a man’s life. However, having a patchy, uneven beard can seriously negate the efforts of your hard work. Don’t worry, you don’t need to shave it off. Just be sure to give it a good trim and a lineup as often as possible. Don’t be afraid to get into that cookie duster with some shampoo, too.  Not only does it harbor all the crumbs from your last meal, but it can also do the same with bacteria.

#4: Fingernails and Toenails

Let’s face it, we all know someone with fingernails the length of Freddy Kreuger’s blades. And if their fingernails are that long, who knows what the toes look like. The point is, don’t be that guy. But don’t go gnawing off your fingernails either. There could be lots of bacteria underneath them. Instead, buy a pair of clippers and trim them evenly. Then use a nail file to reduce any jagged edges. As stated above, long fingernails can harbor some nasty bacteria. Keeping them short can help ensure they stay as clean as possible.

#5: Manscaping

Let’s get DOWN to business. Your balls deserve just as much, or maybe even more attention than anything else on this list. We all know how bad it can get during a lazy spell. From non-stop itching, to bad B/O, an unkempt nether region is no good. But before you go crazy, consider our steps below:

  • Trimmer Choice: Your choice of pubic hair shaver should reflect how much you have going on down there. If you’re really packing it on, shoot for a wide, thick trimmer. For thinner pubes, try a long, thin trimmer. Specific trimmer can also be used for your beard, ears, and nose.

  • Technique: After making sure to clean the area in question, apply some shaving cream. Then take note of which way the hair is growing. Be sure not to shave “against the grain.” After that, pull the skin taut and begin shaving.

  • Post-Shave: After shaving, step out of the shower and pat your balls dry. Then, splash a little aftershave on them. It may sting but will help prevent the ever-annoying razor bumps. In addition, you can also apply some anti-chafe lotion for balls to prevent razor burn.
