The 4-Step Skincare Routine That Any Dad Can Do

For most Dads, facial skincare hardly extends beyond a short bout with the beard trimmer and a splash of cold water in the morning. But you’re not most Dads. No, you know, like your second-born child, your skin deserves a little more attention. You landed on this page because you know skincare can be simple. You just need the strategy.

So, here are our five simple steps to elevate you to Super Dad status.

1 - Start with a cleanse. Step one is simple - wash your face. Every morning. Every day. You can stop reading now if you miss this step. Cleaning your face clears away all the grime your mug accumulates during the day (and night), courtesy of your children, your pillow, your job, etc. A quality cleanse ensures the rest of your skincare regimen is sustainable.

Now, Dapper Dad, to clarify, this step requires you to use more than just a light spritz of water after brushing teeth. Go big and rinse with a quality cleanser in the morning and before you go to bed. It should take you no more than 30 seconds - less time than it takes to tie your kid’s shoes. Once you’re done, pat dry and get ready for step number two.

2 - Mind your moisture. While your skin is clean after step one, the cleansing process also strips away your skin’s moisture, leaving it dry and vulnerable to distress. You’re a dad. You need to “de-stress” not “distress.” You need to moisturize, my friend. No two Dads are the same. So, it’s important to note your skin type when choosing a moisturizer, as they can leave your skin feeling oily or not provide enough moisture if you have a tendency to dry out.

For bearded Dads, make sure you work moisturizer below the fuzz and consider upping your game with some nice beard oil.

3 - Your Father Eyes. A moisturizer only goes so far - certain areas of your face require a little more love, especially the area around your eyes. This skin is particularly thin and prone to show wear more quickly than the rest of your face.

The simple fix? Eye cream.

Eye cream reduces fine lines and wrinkles, lifts away bags caused by sleepless nights, and renews the glow around your windows to the soul. Eye creams are a must-have for every Dad.

Lightly dab some eye cream underneath your eyes, working it in gently from the inside corner outward.
After your final dabs, you’re ready for step number four.

4 - Up with the sun. Your fatherly figure is coming together nicely and you’re ready to greet the day. But before you load up and ship out to school drop-off, make sure you protect your progress with some SPFs.
Don’t let the sun steal your glow. A minimum of 15 SPF will help your skin age gracefully, preventing overexposure and preserving your inner-child.

Repeat. Cleanse and moisturize before bed. Wake up and do it all over again.

You Can Do it, Dad. This skincare routine is so simple, you’ll wonder what else you can squeeze into the day when you’re done.
