The history of hashish, or hash, spans centuries, with archeologists and historians tracing its history back to ancient times. Over the ages, its popularity declined due to the taboo associated with marijuana across the globe.

The widespread availability of commercial marijuana in Canada, along with the information-sharing power of the internet, has made hash's popularity explode in recent years. Currently, there are many kinds of hash, and novel ways of preparing it are being explored on social media.

Here is all you need to know about one of the most popular hash varieties—bubble hash.

What Is Bubble Hash?

Hash is thought to be the recreational habit of the first known order of assassins called "Hashassins," formed in the middle-east around the Christian Crusades in the middle ages. Its true origins, however, can be traced back to the orient, specifically China, where it was used for religious and medicinal purposes for millenia.

Hashish is an Arabic word that has been simplified to hash over the centuries. It is the dough-like form of processed marijuana made from the trichomes (gland heads) of marijuana plants. It is consumable in many different ways, but smoking is the most popular consumption method by far. It also has many different forms, one of which is bubble hash.

How Is Bubble Hash Made?

Bubble hash, commonly known as water or ice hash, is likely the most straightforward hash to make since it doesn't require additional ingredients beyond ice and water. The process is easy and doesn't require the use of any chemical solvents.

The bubble hash process mainly involves separating the resin from the marijuana plant first, then filtering and concentrating it via cold water. Note that the water has to be very cold (near freezing temperature) and adequately purified.

However, if you aren’t much for DIY projects, marijuana legalization in recent years ensures it isn't too tricky to find hash in Canada

Otherwise, here is a step-by-step rundown of making bubble hash in your own home:

Required Items:

●      1 stainless steel spoon

●      2 bucket

●      Ice cubes (Quantity depending on target extraction quantity)

●      Bubble hash bags with micron counts between 25–160 (Lower values indicate better quality)

●      Parchment paper

Steps

1.    The first step in making bubble hash is choosing the right kind of cannabis plant for the process. Choosing high-quality weed flower rich in resin and terpenes will ensure that you have a high-quality yield at the end of the process.

2.    Once you've chosen your bud, crumble it with the tip of your fingers. Doing this will allow the trichome yield to be higher while ensuring the plant surface reacts with the water processing more effectively. Ensure that the buds are peeled apart correctly.

3.    Fill in one bucket with the ice cubes and let them melt for a bit. Once the ice cubes have liquefied, place the crumbled buds in the cold water and stir it with the spoon. Use a skimming spoon for best results.

4.    Collect the plant materials from the matter and store them in the bubble bags. These bags are essentially mesh nets where the straining or filtering process of the resin will take place. Hash bags are usually measured by their micron counts; bags with low micron counts have a finer mesh, leading to better processing.

5.    Fill the second bucket with ice-cold water and place the hash bags containing the plant material inside them. Now, stir the bucket again with the bags inside the water. The stirring will cause the trichomes to fall off through the mesh gaps, collecting at the bottom of the bag.

6.    Keep stirring for at least 30–40 minutes to allow the resin to settle at the bottom of the micron bags properly. Afterward, open up the bag and extract the hash.

Benefits of Bubble Hash

If you're wondering why you should choose this form over other types of hash, here are some significant benefits of bubble hash to help you make a choice:

●      Bubble hash is often considered “healthier” since it doesn't use any chemical solvents.

●      Its potency is excellent for regular weed consumers; it's neither too strong nor too weak.

●      You can either smoke it or use it in recipes for additional effect and flavor.

●      It's easy to make at home.

A Different Way to Consume Marijuana

Hash has been a favorite for marijuana users for almost a thousand years. If it’s something you still haven’t tried yet, get started with this bubble hash recipe. This type of hash employs a healthier, chemical-free extraction process resulting in a high level of purity for users to reap the benefits.
