When I think back on it now, I didn’t know what I was doing.

o   To be a rock for my family by suppressing my emotions and stress reactions and not to share how I was actually feeling.

o   To choke in my complete and utter feeling of isolation, failure and desolation and wanting to cry my eyes out to the point of feeling like I was going to vomit.

But what was I thinking?

But that’s the point, I wasn’t thinking with my brain-- instead I was just reacting, and I was about to just suck it up and do all that crap. There is a better way (and holy crap am I glad I figured it out).

Because I see that dads as a group and a community are desperately under-prepared; we are more often than not labelled the bread-winner, and have the worry of not being able to fulfill our financial duty, as well as the struggle to balance work and care-giving.

Men and fathers are always being asked to be strong, now they are also being asked to be vulnerable, open, sensitive and loving, but on the whole, the current environment for that reality and balance has NOT been achieved.

We don’t realize ourselves that we are not only doing a great dis-service to ourselves, but also to our families, by NOT opening up about our emotional struggles, which can slip very easily into depression.

And because I’ve been there and I want to show you a different approach to fixing your stress, calming your system, and taking charge of your life. I love helping other men and fathers get unstuck from the cycle of stress.

And honestly?

Is this just a bunch of “everybody knows that” / “I’ve read a hundred blog posts about this” kind of things? 

 

Nope. I don’t think so. When I hit rock bottom in the 2008 global economic crash with a pregnant wife and 4 young children helplessly dependent on me I read SO MANY blog posts and eBooks and guides to help me with the gut-wrenching stress, fear and burnout I was feeling- but they all said the same thing.

The same 5 ways to make to deal with stress, like get some sleep (yeah right because I haven’t tried), get some exercise (I was actually over-exercising to try and get rid of it and making it worse), talk to someone (that’s the point- we as men aren’t taught how to comfortably do this…) and so on. And more importantly what there was no all-encompassing clear guide, a step-by-step doable plan that I could work through confidently.

O.M.G! IT WAS ALL SO VAGUE IT JUST MADE ME FEEL WORSE.

 
 

So I did something different. I stopped doing what I was doing (because clearly this wasn’t working for me and I was getting desperate) and did my own thing.

Guess what? It worked.

I'm not regurgitating other people's advice here - it's tried and tested by yours truly.
