Being a father is amazing. The influence you have on either your son, or your daughter is huge. But this for a father and his son, the bond is unbreakable. There are so many life lessons that need to be taught that no one else can. You’re going to be the main figure in that boy’s life. So it’s up to you to make sure you teach him the vital life lessons to turn him into the made he will one day have to be.

How To Treat Women

This is one of the most important lessons to teach. Being respectful towards women is such an honourable trait to have. It’s so easy for things such as social media, music videos, and movies to tarnish views on how women should be treated. But when it comes down to it, your son needs to treat a women how you’d want your partner to be treated. With kindness, love, and respect. Make sure you instilling all these values into your son from a young age. It doesn’t have to just be romantic partners he needs to be respectful of. It’s any woman he meets, whether it be a teacher, friend, or even his mother. Starting this from a younger age will make it easier in the long run.

Handyman

Every dad knows how to fix everything. If he doesn’t, he’ll learn. That’s due to being brought up in a generation where it wasn’t easy to just ring a plumber, or an electrician, nearly all things had to be fixed by the man of the house. Teach your son these tricks of the trades as well. Not only will it help him in his own house when he moves out. But it’ll teach a great lot of independence and knowledge. Show him how to fix the toilet. Show him how to fix a leaky radiator, or that broke down car. Teach him what tools are needed for what, and show him what tool reviews to trust before purchasing. One day, he’ll have a family of his own that are going to rely on him like your family do.

Male Grooming

Despite you not wanting it too, the day is going to come where your son will hit puberty, and will have to be made aware of male grooming. Teaching him how to shave is one of the biggest steps. It’ll be a bonding session like no other, and the starting sign your son is becoming independent. Teach him the importance of keeping himself fresh and showering every day. Also, it’ll be nice to teach him to take pride in his appearance. Every teenager will go through the ‘scruffy I don’t care stage’. When this happens, show him some gentlemanly traits, and having a smart appearance is important. Even buying your son a mens grooming kit when he is old enough would be a thoughtful gift. One thing that could be classed as part of the male grooming stage of life, is the birds and the bees talk. No son is going to want to hear this of his mom, so have a manly chat about safety and protection, and remind him of the life lessons you have about being respectful towards women.
