As a dad, you’re not going to have a lot of spare time. That’s why you need to use the time that you do have wisely and make the most of it. For instance, you might love sports, and if you do there are numerous ways, you can spend your time off. You can sit down, relax, crack open a beer and watch the footy. Or, you might even attend a rugby match with your kids. But if you love it that much, why not take things one step further. You could start your own team. Now don’t get the wrong idea here. We’re not suggesting that you’ll be able to make money on this possibility. But it will be a fun way to spend your time where you’ll be able to enjoy a sport that you love. So, how could you get started?

Research Online

The first thing you need to do is complete a quick search online. You need to find out whether there are any teams like the one you’re thinking about starting up already in your area. Check for teams that are pros or for beginners. You also need to look at the age group. If you’re in your forties you’re not going to be competing with a team filled with twenty year olds or youths. It’s possible that there’s no team that exists like the one you’re thinking about starting. If that’s the case then it’s time to go to work.

Check For Demand

You should see if there’s any interest in the team you’re considering in your area. You can do this by posting an ad in your local paper or perhaps advertising online. If you have online connections, it’s easy to spread the word through social media. Don’t forget if you’re setting up a team you are going to need players. You’ll have to find out whether or not there’s enough people interested to create what you’re planning. You should get a few calls and emails over the next few days and weeks. If you get any interest at all, you should move forward with the idea. After you’ve got a few players you might be able to expand interest and get a full team together.

Get A Kit

Your next step is to make sure you look like a team. You can do this by organising the creation of a team kit online. Rugby kits can be styled and created to look original and make you feel like professionals. You might even catch the interest of local advertisers once you start competing in tournaments.

Hold Try Outs

Depending on how much interest you receive you will either hold try outs or sign everyone interested up straight away. If you hold try outs remember to be reasonable with your expectations. If you’re putting together a beginner's team you can’t expect them to be brilliant. Giving players who show potential a chance might benefit you greatly at a later stage.

Where you go after that is up to you. You could sign up for games or just practice your skills. You will have your own team to lead to victory on the playing field.
