Summer Events In The UK 2019 The Whole Family Can Enjoy
Throughout the summer, the UK comes alive with countless events and festivals. Family days out make for a great way to get out of the house and spend some quality time together, as well as breaking up the regular day-to-day routine. These are five of the best family-friendly events taking place in 2019 that both kids and adults will enjoy.
Cheltenham Festival
The highlight of the Jump season, Cheltenham Festival is fun for the whole family. It’s the pinnacle of racing events and has a fantastic atmosphere that kids and adults alike will love. Cheltenham represents the excitement and adrenalin that racing is associated with, but there’s not just racing to enjoy here. Henley Royal Regatta
One of the best-know regattas in the world, the Henley Royal Regatta runs in early July and is a summer highlight that attracts thousands of visitors. As well as watching the racing, there are also enclosures where you can enjoy restaurants, bars, shopping and views of the River Thames and Henley itself. Finals Day in particular is great for families, with street food, a dedicated kid’s area and a fun-packed afternoon of entertainment for little ones which includes workshops, dance performances and delicious ice cream.
Carfest
Packed with family-friendly activities, Carfest offers two separate events in the north and the south in late July and August. There’s everything from camping and music to great food and, of course, vintage cars to enjoy. Carfest is designed to be family-orientated and has workshops, carnivals, music and even a kid’s theatre with workshops and interactive plays that younger guests will love. This is a really enjoyable weekend that is jam-packed with activities and entertainment.
Notting Hill
A world-famous, colourful celebration of Caribbean culture and traditions, Notting Hill festival is a must-see. This event takes place over the last weekend in August and has become the largest street festival in Europe, with over a million visitors and some 50,000 performers in the parade. From the glamourous floats to the costumed performers and steel band music, not to mention the delicious food stalls that pop up along the route, there’s something for everyone here. Greenwich and Docklands International Festival
The Greenwich + Docklands International Festival is an event that is eagerly anticipated every year, taking place over several weeks from June to July.
