Hobby Ideas For Dads Who Need More Personal Time

If you’re a dad, then you know the time constraints placed on your life by simply filling the role of “dad.”  Just as it can be for Mom, being a dad can place an insane amount of pressure on your shoulders.

It’s important that you remain focused on being a great father to your children, but you can’t be your best without inner peace.  Men need something of their own in life too, and a solid hobby could help fill the void.

Start your own blog

Learning how to blog is a lucrative hobby to take up some of your time.  What better outlet than the mass expanse of the internet? Don’t let your preconceptions about blogging dissuade you from exploring the option further.

Blogging isn’t just for women.  Men do themselves a great disservice by refusing to speak out through the written word.  The possibilities for income are excellent, and learning exactly how to become a successful blogger isn’t like learning rocket science.

Try watersports with your friends

If you live in an area where it’s possible, get yourself out on the water.  Try your hands and feet at various watersports. Wakeboarding is a great way to spend your time, and the sport will keep your body fit in more ways than one.

If wakeboarding is too extreme for you, you might consider fishing, riding jet skis, or even swimming.  Find an activity that captures your mind, so you have time to truly release yourself from the regular stressors of your life.

Gardening may be right up your alley

Some guys aren’t the most social beings, and it’s fine if your idea of relaxation and respite is solitary.  Gardening is a great way to get out into nature, and spend time creating something beautiful.

You don’t have to be some kind of “sissy” to enjoy the beauty of landscaping and the color palette of nature.  Invest time where you want, and find your zen in the garden.

Go to the gym

Men deal with more physical urges at times, and anger is a good instigator.  Stress, frustration, and general discontent can be worked out through a few hours a week at the gym.

You can appease your body’s need to do something with all it’s stored testosterone, and boost your physique at the same time.  There’s no real downside to a regular workout session.

You may enjoy spending time in the woods

Another great way to get some peace and quiet time to yourself is to take up hunting.  Hunting is a sport you can enjoy while simultaneously providing for your family. It’s a primal satisfaction for a man, really.
