The Top 4 Downsides Of Working From Home

Working at home sounds like most people's dreams. After all, working in a 9-5 job and commuting to the office daily can drain so much energy. Not to mention outside factors like traffic and pollution can cause anxieties and stress to working employees. So when working from home became a possibility, more and more people are interested to try it. However, unbeknown to many, working at home also poses some downsides. With the advancement in technology and the easy access to work right at the comforts of home, a lot of people think that it is much easier than going to the office. But it is not entirely true.

Here are the top four downsides of working from home.

1. It takes a whole lot of discipline to start working and actually finish something in a day.

When you are given all the freedom to choose your schedule and start whenever you want, you will more likely procrastinate and get distracted by a lot of things before you can start. When you know you don't have to be at the office early in the morning, you tend to adjust your work schedule later on in the day instead. And even if you have started work, you will more likely lose your focus and do something else like checking on social media or watching TV for instance. It gets harder to finish something when this happens. That is why it takes a huge amount of discipline to follow your own schedule and actually finish something one day.

2. You must have all the motivation you need.

When there is no outside pressure to get you up and working, you will need all the motivation you need all by yourself to get things done. You are your own boss so you need to do all of the things on your own. Most of the time, you are the only person around so you need to encourage yourself especially in the absence of having a coworker. Working from home requires unwavering commitment. Just because you are at the comforts of your home, doesn't mean you can easily do what needs to be done. You must constantly give yourself a reason to continue working even if there's no one around encouraging you to do so.

3. You will often lose yourself on work.

Since you work at the comforts of your home, you will most likely lose the distinction between work and personal life. Everything that goes on with your life becomes attached to your work life as well. Unlike working in an office, you can simply end your day's work and leave to go home. When you are working from home, it can be a challenge to separate yourself from work at the end of the day.

4. You will more likely have back pains from always sitting.

Sitting all day for work at home means your spine will more likely compress. Back pains are a real bummer and can result in long-term issues if not treated early. The good thing is there are already devices for spinal decompression at home that you can try so you won't need to go to a professional all the time.
